Many nightmares are caused by traumatic events, such as loss of a loved one, a physical illness, stress or a prescription. Follow these steps to have sweet dreams.

Relax before bedtime. Meditate, take a hot bath, drink herbal tea or do light exercises.
Free your mind of worries. Make a list of problems and possible solutions, and then look at them the next day.


Avoid watching the evening news, horror movies or violent movies.
Eat some yogurt or drink less milk. Both contain calcium and have a relaxing effect.
Avoid fatty and spicy foods, which can cause gas and eventually nightmares.
